In short
- We collect only what we need to reply to you and to arrange and provide your sessions.

- We never sell your information or use it for advertising.
- You can ask to see, correct or delete your information at any time by emailing Info@RCpsychotherapy.ie.

What we collect, why, and our legal basis
| When | What we collect | Why | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|---|
| You send an enquiry | Your name, email, phone number if you give it, your message, when you sent it, and a record of your consent | To reply to you | Steps you ask us to take before an agreement (GDPR Article 6(1)(b)). Because contacting a therapist can reveal health information, your explicit consent (Article 9(2)(a)) |
| You book a session | Your name, email and phone, the service, date, time and place, your booking reference, payment status, and the confirmations you tick | To arrange and provide your session and manage your booking | Our agreement with you (Article 6(1)(b)) and your explicit consent for health-related information (Article 9(2)(a)) |
| You choose to add background information or share questionnaire scores when booking | What you choose to write or share | To help Rosemary prepare for your first session | Your explicit consent (Article 9(2)(a)), which you can withdraw at any time |
| You pay | Confirmation that you paid and the amount. Stripe handles your card details; we never see or store your full card number | To take payment and keep financial records | Our agreement with you (Article 6(1)(b)) and our legal duty to keep business records (Article 6(1)(c)) |
| You use the self-assessment questionnaires | Nothing, unless you choose to share your scores when you book. Answers are scored in your browser and are not sent to us | So you can check in with yourself privately | Not applicable unless you share them |
| You visit the website | Anonymous page counts from Plausible Analytics, which uses no cookies and stores no personal identifiers. Only the page address is counted, never anything typed into a form | To understand which pages help people | Our legitimate interest in running a useful website (Article 6(1)(f)) |
| You use a form | A scrambled, one-way code made from your internet (IP) address, used only to count attempts in the last hour and cleared out after a day | To stop spam and misuse of our forms | Our legitimate interest in keeping the website secure (Article 6(1)(f)) |
Please don't include details about your health in the enquiry form. Rosemary will talk with you privately about what is bringing you.
What you share in sessions is covered by our confidentiality page.
Who sees your information
- Rosemary Chaney.
- Service providers who act only on our instructions: Stripe, for card payments; our website hosting and database provider; our email delivery provider; Plausible Analytics; and our website developer, who maintains this website. Each is bound to keep your information confidential and use it only to provide their service to us.
- Others only where the law requires or allows it, for example Tusla, An Garda Síochána or a court. Our confidentiality page explains when this can happen.
- Clinical supervision: Rosemary discusses her work with a supervisor without identifying you.
We never sell your information or use it for advertising.
Information sent outside the EEA
Some of our service providers may process information outside the European Economic Area. Where that happens, we rely on safeguards recognised under GDPR, such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses or the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that don't lead to sessions: 12 months, then deleted.
- Booking, appointment and payment records: seven years from the end of therapy, in line with professional guidance. This also covers the six years Irish tax law requires for financial records.
- Session notes: kept securely, separately from this website, for the period recommended by professional guidance and Rosemary's insurer, then securely destroyed.
- Form security codes: cleared out after a day.
- Website statistics: anonymous totals only.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- give you a copy of your information
- correct anything that is wrong
- delete your information, unless we must keep it by law
- restrict or object to how we use it
- give you your information in a portable format
- stop using information you gave us with your consent. Withdrawing consent doesn't affect what we did before.
Email Info@RCpsychotherapy.ie or call 087 458 0150. We reply within one month. If you're unhappy with how we handle your information, you can complain to the Data Protection Commission at dataprotection.ie.
To book, we need your name, email and phone number. Background information is optional. We don't make automated decisions about you or profile you.
How we keep it safe
- The website uses encrypted connections (HTTPS).
- Booking and enquiry records can only be opened through a password-protected owner dashboard.
- Card payments are handled by Stripe, so we never hold your card details.
- Your enquiry and booking details are emailed only to the practice's own inbox, and your booking confirmation only to you. Any other alerts say only that a new enquiry or booking has arrived, without your details.
Under-18s
RC Psychotherapy works with adults aged 18 and over. We don't knowingly collect information about anyone under 18. If we learn we have, we delete it.
